Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series SEARCH Goes To Westcan6. The series honours groups and cachers involved with the South East Alberta Region Cache Hunters (SEARCH) and consists of both past and present members. It starts in Medicine Hat (the home of SEARCH) and follows Alberta Highway 41 up to the Red Deer River bridge. After completing the series, if one continues north on highway 41, they will eventually end up in Cold Lake, this year’s host for the Westcan Mega.

The scenery is breathtaking in spots as the cacher is taken through the Badlands of Southern Alberta.

All caches are identical, all are placed on roadside pull outs easily accessible for northbound traffic. Also, all caches are placed where there is a short walk (10 to 30 meters) through long grass, so watch out for Snakes, Ticks and the occasional cactus and thorny bush. NOTE that this cache may not be readily available in Winter

Note that this is a fairly busy road and the speed limit doesn’t mean much so, if you want to do this series from the North, you’ll have to cross the road. BE CAREFUL if you do!

When the cache is found, a set of tweezers will probably be required to CAREFULLY remove the stopper and extract the log.  When the log has been signed, please replace the log and the stopper and put the container back into its host. It may be a little difficult to make the log container fit, but it can be done, so be patient.  Don’t forget a writing stick!

Help us keep this series of caches healthy!
