Although this is not a Faded Marker Series cache, I thought it was worthwhile to place a cache here to acknowledge another resting place of Niagara residents.
Welcome to the Islamic Cemetery of Niagara. The Islamic Society of Niagara Peninsula and the St.Catharines Mosque work together in order to provide Burial Lots for any Muslim in the Niagara Peninsula.
The Islamic Cemetery Niagara was established in the early 1990's and it is one of the first Muslim burial grounds in North America and likely the first in Canada. The interred are buried facing Mecca, which is in a northeast direction in Niagara because the most direct route to the holy Islamic city is over the Arctic circle.
There is roadside parking and the cache can either be reached from within the cemetery or outside the fence.
