You are invited to anonymously contribute a secret to a new style of cache. Your secret can be a regret, fear, betrayal, desire, confession, or childhood humiliation. Reveal anything - as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before.
Tips:
Be brief - the fewer words used, the better.
Be legible - use big, clear lettering
Be creative - let the page be your canvas
If you REALLY WANT TO STEP UP YOUR GAME, you can make an artsy secret at home (post card sized) and then stick it into the existing secret book. Your only limitation is your creativity. Look at the photos for some examples.
One of my favorite Sunday morning rituals is reading other people’s secrets while drinking a cup of coffee. There is a website which publishes an assortment of anonymously sent and creatively illustrated confessions on postcards. Some are disturbing: “when you don’t answer my text messages, I’m afraid they found one of the bodies.” Some are sweet, whimsical: “I like to drop lucky pennies, I hope one made your day.” Others are flat-out illegal: “I stole 100 bucks.” However, the whole intrigue (aesthetics notwithstanding) lies in the fact that these secrets remain anonymous.
There is something mysterious, thrilling, and disturbing about the idea that the sources of these deep, dark, and delicious confessions come from people all around us.
I have included in this cache:
- a book from this website to give examples to those unfamiliar. Please do not take this
- a small notebook where you can write your anonymous secret anywhere in the book you would like. Write anywhere in the book so it can not be lined up with the log.
- Colored pencils and a sharpener for you to get creative with
My premise here is that you can come, grab some swag, read other peoples anonymous secrets and maybe leave a few of your own. Unburden yourself with something you never told anyone for fear of judgement. You are anonymous and you are free to get it off of your chest.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A LOG AND A NOTEBOOK. Do NOT write secrets in the log. I've made it pretty obvious which is which.
Feel free to take the cache to the nearby gazebo and take your time with it
**** WHEN REPLACING, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS INVISIBLE FROM ALL ANGLES SO MUGGLES DON'T MAKE OFF WITH OUR SECRETS****
