While Me and Apollo roam the various forests we make many discoveries. This spring we have had the good fortune of finding various feathers from some wonderful creatures. These feathers are mostly a result of these birds becoming a food source for a competing creature and we usually discover only the feathers as that is all that remains after a successful hunt. While it is unfortunate to see these magnificent creatures meet their demise, it is part of the cycle of life in the forest.
This cache had been planned for some time but I was waiting to expand the collection of feathers. This morning we had a wonderful opportunity presented to us as we spied an Osprey nest. As we watched the young being fed high above, a single adult Osprey feather floated to the ground and landed 50m away. It was an amazing find.
This cache contains many of the feathers we have discovered. The feathers are individually marked and you are encouraged to have a closer look at them. However, please be gentle with these feathers and return them to the marked container. Also, please do not remove the feathers from the cache container, they are not for trading.
Feathers located in the cache include- Great Horned Owl, Red Tailed Hawk, Wild Turkey (tom), Grosbeak, Kestrel and Osprey. We have also left a container in the cache holding 2 Great Horned Owl pellets.
The cache is an ammo can and should be easily located once at GZ.
Please note- we discovered a fox's den nearby so please stay on the top of the rocky outcrop. A picture of the den is included.
