LEGS – Lowdham, Epperston, Gonalston Series
Welcome to LEGS, a series of 12 Geocaches, ironically devoted to our good friend whom recently got his leg amputated. We have placed this series on a circular route around the 3 beautiful villages of Lowdham, Epperstone and Gonalston. This series can be completed by either walking, cycling or driving (or it is possible for horse riders if you are keen!). It is about a 5 mile walk, which by foot will take about 2 hours. The first cache is located in Lowdham, where for those walking, can leave cars here as there is plenty of areas to park for free.
If you are coming via public transport, there is the 100 Pathfinder bus which starts in Nottingham, and ends in Southwell and is a very reliable source of transport. There is also a train stop in Lowdham, with trains coming from Newark and Nottingham, whilst stopping at multiple villages and towns in between.
All the caches are on the side of roads, which all have pavements or at least grass verges. There is a main road which you have to cross twice if walking or cycling, so if you are with children please be aware that the roads can be very busy (however, don't let this put you off walking as it is very scenic and the majority of the roads are quiet).
The caches we have placed are a variety of different sizes and container types. Some will be straight forward, and others may have you scratching your head for some time – But don't give up!
Cache #4 LEGS
4th cache of LEGS. After passing over the busy A6097, and heading into the last bits of Lowdham, you will find a road not many people drive down, as it is a beautiful housing area. A bit of secrecy is required here as hunting for this cache will look slightly strange!
