I had been trying unsuccessfully to get to site 47 just 300ft away from this vista. Twice I was turned back while attempting to make two separate winter trips. Father's Day weekend in June of 2016, myself, my two sons, and my dad came to the State Forest to enjoy a weekend of camping at site 47. We were treated to this amazing vista throughout the weekend. We'd come at various times of the day and would enjoy the stellar views! You can see for miles and miles up here!
The easiest and best approach is to get onto Red Ridge Road from New Lancaster Valley Road which comes up out of Reedsville.
A high clearance vehicle is best since you'll be on dirt/gravel roads. But you could get away with a car that has good clearance. This place can get to be impassable during winter months. There is no maintenance. I can verify that! The cache itself is just about 50-75 feet from parking area/vista.
