[Update June 12, 2019: The man who placed the ship, Charles Pittinger, died on June 7 at age 92, according to cacher Ricky Del. See his note on June 11, 2019. If you want to know more about how the ship got there, read Ricky Del's log from March 24, 2017.]
There's a ship on dry land in this area, and you can get (nearly) there from here. But which way is it? If you go in either of the directions suggested on the sign near this cache, you won't get there. The real ship on dry land is behind you if you're looking at the sign – but you won't be able to see it from here.
Inside the cache we've taped a card with the GPS coordinates of the ship, which is on private property and unfortunately not accessible. Copy the coordinates down while you're signing the log. You won't be able to get very close, but can you find a vantage point where you can get a good look? If there are lots of leaves on the trees, you may only see the mast. Don't confuse those tall power poles for the mast, however. It's not quite that tall. Tell us in your log if you're able to see it – and if you happen to know how it got there!
Finding the ship isn't required to log this traditional cache, but it's something fun to look for while you're in the area.
Congratulations to Tammy&Sammy on being first to find!
