Geocache Description:

St Cuthbert's Way is a 100km cross-border walking trail running between Melrose, in Scotland, and Holy Island just off the Northumberland coast.

There is also a network of waymarked paths connecting the communities of Eckford, Crailing and Nisbet. Not all of these paths are marked on OS maps but they share sections with both St Cuthbert's Way and the Borders Abbeys Way, another long-distance path. The path from Eckford is marked on OpenStreetMap and it does make a pleasant ramble.

The cache is located on the section of St Cuthbert's Way between Crailing and Cessford. It is near a junction with the path that runs from Eckford, over Wooden Hill to link with SCW before heading down to Crailing and Nisbet.

If you fancy a circular walk (sort of) then you could follow the waymarked path out of Eckford village which will take you over Wooden Hill and on to meet SCW near the GZ. Backtrack a little way from there to a junction at the corner of the woods where you can follow the farm track past Upper Wooden and Wooden Loch right back to the village. No more than 8km in total.

Whichever way you decide to approach it, you'll be rewarded with extensive views in all directions.
