Take a stroll through the desert where this area seems a bit out of place with the rest of the world around it and only yards from the Carson River Route of the Emigrant Trail. The animals of the desert claim this area as their own, so please be careful when looking and reaching into dark places.
This is yet another in a long line of back country off-road caches that will take the seeker to a place most don't know exists. The location is a homestead site back when the promise of irrigation waters guaranteed reclamation to a dry desert climate and people rushed to this valley to claim land and attempt to scratch out a living from the parched burning sand. The Carson River Branch of the California Emigrant trail lies only a few yards from this site and you will have crossed it getting there. This is a medium-large cache in a one gallon container and at the time of placement contained lots of goodies. When found, please try to put it back as you found it. Please remember in a desert environment there is a tendency for animals to be trying to stay cool and hidden in dark places. Please look before you reach. This is also a sandy area so be careful when getting off the hard packed areas.
