Geocache Description:

"Old Vici"

This is not the "oldest Vici" but, it is known as "OLD VICI". The first Vici was about 2 1/2 miles southeast of the present Vici. It was established by Albert Vincent in February 1899. A few years later, Mr. Vincent moved his business and Post Office to what is know as "Old Vici". This was about 3/4 mile southwest of the present Vici and where this cache is located. On may 10, 1908, a tornado blew away the entire town. There were no deaths or injuries, as the entire town huddled in a cave. The homes and business were quickly rebuilt in the same stop. In 1911, the "MKT" railroad constructed a line past "Old Vici". The townspeople of "Old Vici" decided that they wanted to be closer to the railroad so, they "moved" the entire town, homes and businesses, to be next to the railroad, in Vici. Many of these homes and business buildings are still being used today.
