Geocache Description:

NOTE: Cache is NOT located at the posted coords.
You must follow the directions to find the Letterbox Hybrid
.

*** THIS IS A LETTERBOX HYBRID CACHE***
A Letterbox Hybrid is another form of treasure hunting using clues in addition to coordinates.

If you are Letterboxing - you need to bring with you: your personal notebook and your personal stamp. Please stamp the Letterbox Logbook with your personal stamp, and log any comments next to your stamp's impression. Next, use the Red Queen stamp in the cache to stamp your own personal notebook. When you are done, return all the Letterbox items including the stamp and ink pad into their baggie as well as the Letterbox Logbook to the cache.

Directions to finding the cache are given in two forms below. Verbal clues are given if you want to find it via the letterboxing method, coordinate projections are given for those preferring GPS usage. Have fun!

Red Queen Gambit

Start at the posted coordinates. This will put you at the sign in front of the giant Chess board at Centennial Parkway. Locate the Centennial stairway and climb 22 stairs, pause (huff puff) then climb the remaining 22 stairs to the top. Walk over to the flagpole and log the nearby benchmark if you choose.
This is stage 2, which can also be reached by going 45.5 meters on an 88° bearing from the posted coordinates.

With your back to the benchmark (and the flagpole), follow the sidewalk to your right and pass the four large ROOKS.
Continue to the end of the sidewalk (stage three).

Alternately, you can walk 99.85 meters on a 180° bearing heading south from stage two to arrive at this spot.

From there turn EAST and continue up the street. Follow the sidewalk until you pass the site where the QUEEN gets clean.
This will bring you to stage four which can also be reached by following a 90° course for 109 meters from stage three.

Go south at the intersection in front of you and locate the second ivy-covered PAWN where you will discover your prize.
Following your GPS, proceed 46 meters south on a 180° bearing from stage four and you will arrive at this same destination!

Dare you risk the Red Queen and reach in to make the blind grab?

Just don't lose your head!
