Geocache Description:

Route 48 connects Sendai City in Miyagi prefecture and Yamagata City in Yamagata Prefecture.
If you pass through the red gate and go up the stone steps, you will find buildings of Oosaki-Hachiman guu. It was built by Shougun Date Masamune in the current place in early 1600s upon establishment of the old Sendai City. It was designated as the national treasure in 1952. Enjoy the beautiful traditional Japanese buildings!

国道48号は仙台市とお隣の山形県山形市を結ぶ国道で、宮城県側が「作並街道」、山形県側が「関山街道」と呼ばれています。
鳥居の後ろに続く石段の上には、大崎八幡宮の本殿があります。これらは1607年に伊達政宗によりこの地に建立されました。煌びやかな国宝、大崎八幡宮をお楽しみください。
