The Victorian Lampost -
Sadly, at some point between my early childhood and today this has been somewhat 'shortened' and filled with cement - no idea why. I remember it being full height although obviously out of action. It had an ornate post and at the top (high, nortmal lampost height) was an equally ornate 'top' which I assume at some point had a gas lamp of some sort.
Why it seemed to be the only one left in berhamsted I dont know - and why it would appear to be at odds with the surrounding development is also a mystery.
I wouldnt imagine many people notice it any more but I always wonder about it - so seemed a great place for an urban micro.
If anyone has any more historical info (or even a picture!) then I will update the page.
Happy caching...
Edit - As someone keeps taking the cache containers I have had to hide this more discretely and it has made it a lot more difficult. It is there, within half a metre of the lamppost but if you are stuck read the clue - which should be very clear. Thanks.
