How about an event with a difference? (Though this type of event has become more popular due to Hillgorilla).
How many have been on top of hill at midnight, when it isn’t Halloween? (Probably quite a few of you, if you know Hillgorilla)
Well, this is your chance. This event is located in the middle of the fells in a disused haunted quarry.
The event will start at 11.45pm on Friday 2nd September 2016, and will end at 12.15am on Saturday 3rd September 2016.
Come prepared as it is an upland area, you will need waterproofs, warm clothing, proper footwear, emergency rations, a torch and a shelter in-case the weather turns. An OS map, and the ability to use a compass would also be an idea to prevent you getting lost. You will need an ability to navigate yourself to and from the event site, and an awareness of your own safety and limitations. I would also recommend that you bring some food and a warm drink, even though it is September.
Please be aware this is a serious undertaking, though there are good paths from the parking suggested. Hopefully though the sky will be clear and we will get a view of the night sky and the Cumbrian towns down below, also if anyone is interested I’ll point out a few stellar constellations
Come up high and you will encounter this great hill at night, and the views below and above it. Come along, have a chat and a laugh about caching, bring some TBs, pick up some TBs. All will be welcome.
For those wishing to walk in as a group, if you log ‘will attend’ and look for notifications a few days before I will let people know from where and when I intend to walk up to the event.
As always with my events there will be a log book to sign (this is optional) and I will choose one lucky signatory at the end of the event who will be invited to claim FTF.
Finally if you are intending to sleep up there, you won’t be on your own and I’m not talking about the ghost of the quarry. Several of us will be staying the night close by.
So I’m looking forward to meeting you on a hill, in the middle of nowhere, in the dark. (Yes my wife thinks I’m mad too)
