I like to play the Wisconsin Geocaching Association's Lonely Cache Game. I noticed GC2EW5F on the list and decided to go looking for it. It really is a shame that this one doesn't get visited very often because it's a great cache, hidden at a beautiful location. I decided to hide another cache along the way so that hopefully more people will come to this trail. I was enjoying the view so much, this is such a pretty spot along the river! After I had found the cache, I just couldn't stop, I was enjoying myself too much. I kept walking a little farther down the trail until I found a balloon on the ground. What was it doing there? It was bright purple and I'm guessing it was released for someone's birthday or taken by the wind from the nearby campground. Who knows! I couldn't leave it there, I decided to do some CITO and bring it back with me along with some other trash I picked up.
If you park at the dirt lot at the bridge you will need to pay as this is Eau Claire County Parks property. If you are spending time at the Coon Forks campground it is an easy walk over to the trailhead.
