Center Line Lutheran Cemetery is all that remains of what was once a church and co-located burial grounds, as seen below in the A. Pomeroy Atlas of Centre County. (1874)
The cemetery has a rather long history, stretching from the middle late 1800's until today, and contains a particular grave marker of distinct interest to the C.O. My family emigrated to the U.S. only once, in or around 1660 on the ship 'De Bonte Koe' from the Netherlands. Hence, anyone with my last name is very likely related. To date, the grave marker shown below is the only patrilineal relation that I know of buried in Centre County. She's not in my direct lineage, but if you get a chance, please say hello.
Parking Note:The cemetery lies on the inside of slight curve, and high grass obscures oncoming traffic from the east, making parking on the cemetery side of the road somewhat treacherous. I talked to the property owner across the street and he very graciously said he'll allow visitors to park at the base of his driveway, so long as his road is not blocked. I strongly recommend parking across the road at the base of his driveway and crossing at the top of the curve at the reference point. At this location, you can easily see oncoming cars from both directions. Max 1 car please, and again, do not block the driveway so graciously offered.
As with any and all cemetery caches, please be respectful of those interred here.
