The HMS Orpheus was a Royal Navy corvette, Which Meet It's Tradgic end on the Manukau Bar New Zealand on the 7 February 1863 The Orpheus disaster is often called 'New Zealand's worst Martime Diasaster' when it hit a sandbar, which tragically 189 People Lost their Lives. Since then the Manukau Heads Lighthouse provides a tourist attraction to locals and visitors, and also plays a important role guiding container ships to port at Onehunga.
The cache is a plastic tube which is camouflaged. The cache contains a pencil,rubber,log sheet and goodies to trade with.Stealth is required for this cache as it is located at a busy tourist attraction!!!
This cache can only be accessed when the Lighthouse gate is open, which is open 9am-5pm daily!!!
