Our annual trip down the Grand River had a new crew member this year and we placed this cache along the way to recognize the event (and help us remember where the good fishing spots were) !! This section of the Grand has some really high escarpments with great views.
The cache is about 2km paddle from the Glen Morris boat launch on the west bank of the river. It is about a 12km canoe journey if you start at Glen Morris and end at Paris -- plan on about 3 hours. If you are looking for a longer journey, there is a boat launch at the start of the rail trail in Cambridge and you can put in there. That will be about a 21km journey to Paris taking about 5 hours. These approximate times are at a slow comfortable paddle with the usual slow summer flow rate and little wind. It shouldn't take any longer than the times suggested, but could easily be shorter if you put some effort into it.
This cache is only accessible by canoe, kayak, raft, or wading. Both sides of the river are flanked by private property, please do not trespass. The difficulty rating can vary depending on whether you are wading or using watercraft, and your expertise navigating around rocks.
