• International Geocaching Day 2016 – Columbia •
• August 20th • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. •
• Shelter Gardens •

Back in 2011, Groundspeak announced that the third Saturday of August (in that year, August 20th) would henceforth be International Geocaching Day. Cachers from around the world were encouraged to celebrate their shared obsession with camaraderie, caching and all things geocaching.

Fast forward to 2016. This year – like the first year – on August 20th, International Geocaching day with be celebrated the world over. Let's celebrate this 6th year of this auspicious occasion in style!

Join us for a relaxed afternoon of conversation and togetherness at the beautiful Shelter Gardens. This space includes peaceful walkways, beautiful flora and a serene setting. We will be meeting at the gazebo that is located along the trail at the posted coordinates above.

You can bring along a lunch to eat while at the event, but please be sure to CITO any trash you may have.

For those interested, there is a cache nearby (GCG53W) in the garden attendees can find if they haven't already done so. There is a possibility of a new cache being published for the event as well.

Do you like souvenirs? As is in the past, Groundspeak will offer an International Geocaching Day souvenir to those who attend an event or find a geocache on that day. Cool, eh?

So, come on out to Shelter Gardens and hang out with your fellow cachers. Share stories, eat some lunch, trade trackables and just celebrate the day set aside for our common bond – geocaching!
