Geocache Description:

It's time for the annual summer picnic by the Stuck in the Middle Geocachers!

Summer, summer, summer time!

And with the summer comes our annual Hall of Fame Picnic! The theme this year is simple – summer games and fun.

On hand will be (as long as I can round up everything) some of the best “lawn” games. I’m not sure what we’ll have yet, but it’s being planned as an old-school summer picnic of fun. Nearby are sand volleyball pits and things like that already, so let’s see what we can drum up.

If you have a “summer game” you can bring, please do. Just let us know with your will-attend, so we know what is and what isn’t coming!

Let’s plan on starting the day at around noon, and we’ll go until about 3:30 or so.

In regard to food, we’re working on it. It will be some sort of a pot luck deal, but much like last year, we’ll probably look to give the main dish (maybe a large sub again so we don’t have to worry about cooking), and everybody else can bring the secondary things and drinks. That would be perfect.

Please log a will-attend so we can plan what we need to bring as it gets closer.

Dogs are welcome, but please have them on a leash as per park rules. And please clean up after them!

The Hall of Fame Picnic

Nine years ago, we started this event and never knew what it would be like. It’s grown to be a fun and interesting event and it’s great to see the people who come back each year.

Fortin Park is a large park in the town of Oneonta and there’s plenty of room for other activities. There are outhouses close by for bathrooms and we are kind of cut off from the “main” park, thus meaning we should be by ourselves. There is a playground not far from the pavilion.

In regard to food this year, as mentioned above -- we will be working to get a 6-foot sub (and a second, if numbers dictate). It's still a bit of potluck, but we don't need the massive spread like we have gotten in the past. So we are thinking we'll need these items (please let us know in your will-attend log if you are thinking of bringing any of these, so we can make note of it on the page):

  • Water
  • Soda
  • Veggie dish
  • Chips/dips
  • Fruits
  • Desserts
  • Macaroni salad
  • Potato salad

The group has all the forks/knives etc., so that is covered. Anything else, feel free to ask etc.

IF ANYBODY HAS ANYTHING THEY WOULD LIKE TO DONATE AS A GIVEAWAY, PLEASE LET US KNOW SO WE CAN PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

Quick notes:

  • Picnic start time: Approx. Noon
  • Food all coming out: Approx 1-1:15 or so
  • Games going on all day – for fun!
  • Giveaways/door prizes etc.: Approx. 3:15 p.m.
  • Group photo: Right after the giveaways
  • End time: Approx 3:30 or so (if people are still playing games and having fun, we can go longer!)
