Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache with only a log book and no room for swag.  Bring your own writing utensil.

The region was visited by the explorers Robert de La Salle and René de Bréhant de Galinée in order to observe a burning spring known to the area's indigenous members of the Seneca tribe. Such "burning springs" occur in places where the water appears to support a flame caused by escaping natural gas.

You will need to know the year of LsSalle's visit to calculate the actual cache location (a short drive away)

Add this number to both of the coordinates listed below to find the cache location.

Cache latitude:                  42 47.030 plus mystery number

Cache longitude:              77 22.684 plus mystery number

Please make sure you close the top tightly to keep things dry inside. You can validate your solution by clicking the icon below. Make sure you enter a space after “N” and “W” and after the degrees portions of the solution (your answer should look like N 99 99.999 W 99 99.999 including the spaces)
