The valley is named after a Maori shepherd who helped to track the infamous 19th century sheep rustler, James McKenzie. It's a pretty farming valley framed by low, rolling hills with the Hunter Hills beyond, and which are frequently dusted with snow in winter. Taiko has been oddly Anglicised to Tycho on a war memorial at the nearby Taiko zig-zag, location of one of the first geocaches we found a while back.
The cach is a 1 litre camouflaged Systema container. As our family (especially the youngest Gruffalo) enjoys caches that contain swaps and swag that appeal to younger Geocahers, we've stocked this one with a few swapables. We also thought that our first hide was the perfect opportunity to release our first ever travel bug and send it off on it's (hopefully) global adventures.
