Park in the lot behind the fire station off of White Pine Dr. Then head for a walk along the Greenway trail that surrounds the community garden. You may want to leave some time for a visit to this beautiful place, in addition to stopping to find your cache located in an "unfinished" birdhouse along a United Plant Savers Botanical Sanctuary.
Established in 2004 by Black Mountain resident Dr. John Wilson, this garden provides growing space for nearly 90 families and with volunteer labor from the community and beyond grows food for families in need in the Swannanoa Valley. The garden is also home to over 100 fruit, nut or native trees and shrubs. In 2015 the garden produced 4700 pounds of biodynamically grown vegetables for donation. The garden is managed by Black Mountain Parks and Recreation. Please keep to trails and mulched paths, keep dogs on leashes, and enjoy looking but not picking during your visit.
