La SAME (Società Accomandita Motori Endotermici) viene costituita a Treviglio da Francesco ed Eugenio Cassani nel 1942.
Le origini di questa grande storia italiana risalgono agli anni Venti, quando i fratelli Cassani sviluppano il progetto del primo motore diesel applicato a un trattore, riuscendo nel 1927 a presentare una macchina assolutamente innovativa, molto più funzionale rispetto ai modelli tradizionali: la prima trattrice agricola al mondo azionata da un motore diesel.
Iniziarono poi, tra i primi in Italia, lo studio e la sperimentazione dei motori diesel veloci per la marina e l’aviazione. Nel 1936 nasce la SPICA (Società Pompe a Iniezione Cassani) per la costruzione di apparati di iniezione per motori diesel che ottengono un notevole successo.
Nel 1973 SAME acquisisce il marchio Lamborghini Trattori, facendo così un salto di qualità nel settore dei cingolati. Fondato da Ferruccio Lamborghini, questo marchio, ben prima delle auto sportive, caratterizzava trattori di eccellente qualità.
L’acquisizione dello storico marchio elvetico Hürlimann nel 1979 è risultata strategica per SAME, in grado di fare propria l’avanzata tecnologica dei sistemi di raffreddamento ad acqua dei motori.
Nel 1995, SAME acquisisce lo storico marchio di trattori e mietitrebbie Deutz-Fahr formando quindi il Gruppo SAME Deutz-Fahr.
L'acquisizione (Settembre 2011) della francese Grégoire SAS, leader mondiale nella produzione e distribuzione di macchine specialistiche per la raccolta di olive e uva, completa la già ampia gamma specialistica, fornendo un’offerta completa per i più esigenti produttori di vino e olio.L’acquisizione di DEUTZ-FAHR consegna nelle mani dei manager di Treviglio anche un’efficace leva per affrontare i nuovi scenari che si delineano all’orizzonte. La geografia dei mercati, infatti, sta cambiando. Con l’ingresso nel nuovo millennio il baricentro della crescita mondiale inizia a spostarsi verso l’Asia.
Oggi il Gruppo è una grande realtà produttiva e commerciale in grado di competere ad armi pari con i più importanti produttori mondiali.
Il 12 ottobre 2012, presso la storica sede di Treviglio, SAME ha festeggiato i suoi primi 70 anni. In tale occasione, il marchio italiano ha annunciato nuovi investimenti e nuovi modelli per il futuro, in primis il trattore Virtus (100-110-120-130 CV) disegnato dalla Italdesign di Giugiaro.

The origins of this great Italian tale date back to the Twenties, when the Cassani brothers developed the project of the first diesel engine applied to a tractor, succeeding in 1927 to present an entirely new machine, much more functional than traditional models: the first agricultural diesel tractor in the world.
Among the first in Italy, SAME began to study and test high speed diesel engines for marine and aviation. In 1936 they found the SPICA (Società Pompe a Iniezione Cassani) to build injection pumps for diesel engines that achieve a remarkable success.
In 1973 SAME acquires the Lamborghini Trattori brand, thus making a quantum leap in the field of excavators. Founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini, the brand, well before the sports car, characterized by excellent quality tractors.
The acquisition of the historic Swiss brand Hürlimann in 1979 was strategic for SAME, able to achieve a technological progress of the water cooling systems of the engines.
In 1995, SAME it purchased the historic brand of tractors and combines Deutz-Fahr thus forming the SAME Deutz-Fahr Group.
The acquisition (September 2011) of the French Grégoire SAS, world leader in the production and distribution of specialized machines for the harvesting of olives and grapes, completes the already wide machineries range, providing a complete solution for the most demanding wine and oil producers. The acquisition of DEUTZ-FAHR put in the Treviglio managers' hands also an effective lever to face new coming scenarios. In fact, the markets geography is changing. Entering the new millennium, the center of gravity of global growth starts to move towards Asia.
The Group is today a large manufacturing and commercial reality able to compete on equal terms with the leading world producers.
