Beautiful Angelique Cosette Laineux got bored of tanning on the French Riviera so she decided to take a bold adventure vacation in Zion National Park.
After 2 weeks of sweaty dusty hiking, rock climbing and flying squirrel suit flying, she had had enough and decided to go out for lunch, and then catch her plane back home.
She forgot to shower though and Oscars, the Mexican food place wouldn't let her in, stating the stench was too pungent.
The Flying Monkey refused her service too, claiming the other guests would lose their lunch if she were allowed entry.
As she left town she noticed a small stream just off of the Virgin River and decided she would wash up in the stream.
It was a cold wintery day and the townsfolk gathered around because they had never seen anything like it.
A young woman, shivering from the frigid water was quickly washing her hair, feet, and armpits.
As she walked up the bank, the crowd heard her exclaim in her French accent, ''That was a cold pit wash''.
She then jumped into her car and sped off in the direction of Hurricane.
Since the town did not have a name for that particular area, they decided to call it Coal Pit Wash, since that is what they thought the strange sounding girl had said.
So to this day, sweaty and stinky hikers and campers in need of a bath, and without access to a shower, stop here for a refreshing warm or cold pit wash.
Still hungry, but clean and smelling pretty of French Perfume, Angelique stopped for lunch at Barista's, the famously visual Hurricane restaurant that has the large and exquisitely artistic brass bull out front with the unusually oversized and politically controversial endowments.
