In the 14th century Merrions Wood was a deer park, and it was around this time that the Scott family settled into the area. They were to have a major influence on the development of Merrions Wood and the nearby Great Barr Hall estate. These days, the site is owned by the Merrions Wood Trust and managed by Walsall Countryside Services. It is a Local Nature Reserve, a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, and has been awarded Green Flag status since 2011.
Since I have been Geocaching I have ended up in unexpected places and found some beautiful places which i continue to revisit. Thus I finally decided to place a geocahe here and share one of my favourite spots in Walsall with everyone.
This is a great place for walking the dog, bird/bat watching and just being lost in your thoughts while meandering about in nature.
The cache is a magnetic one, large enough for a small log and a few small swaps.
Hope you enjoy it!
