This cache is hidden on Hepburn Road, named after James Hepburn an early settler and farmer (prior 1928).
Across the road is Delegat's Winery – established 1947, at 172 Hepburn Rd, Glendene.
The villa out front, has been partially restored and modified, it was the home to Nikola and Vidosava Delegat, who emigrated from modern day Croatia in the late 1930's creating this business that still exits today.
Over the years the rows of grapes have disappeared, pulled out and replaced by homes. At the site now, you can find a bottling line, rows of stainless steel vats, steel pipes, and the abandoned crushing plant.
The cache was hidden on a power box, this type of hide has been discouraged, so I have moved the cache to a more exposed site.
Please stop and admire the painted power box, in 2010, 30 artists were commissioned by the council to paint utility boxes around the city (eg transformers, telecommunications cabinets).
So a thank you to Waitakere City Council for transforming a green box, into something beautiful.
