Geocache Description:

This is a pet story cache. If you log it, then please provide a short story of how a pet has changed your life or touched you in some way. Please do not just, "TFTC" and leave. This cache is in a watertight container and it is very important that you leave the cache the way you found it, hidden from plain view. If you can see the container, then you didn't hide it correctly. Muggles frequent this area.

A couple times every summer, we visit the great northern woods of Wisconsin. We always bring our pets camping because they love the outdoors as much as we do. Unfortunately, our pet chameleon, Ziggy, passed away while we were camping. The passing of a pet is never easy and it is so easily taken for granted how much they affect our lives and touch our souls. Ziggy was such an animal.

This place is a canoe landing and makeshift picnic spot. Ziggy is buried well over 100 feet from his cache. His resting place is not marked. He loved the great outdoors. He'd sunbathe on branches and eat leaves off of plants and trees and free us from wandering insects. He had the patiences of a saint. Ziggy has been to a movie theater to watch Pets, a variety of shops and stores, and he even toured a water bomber called the Marin Mars Hawaii.

A veil chameleon will live 6 to 8 years and grow to about 18 inches head to tail.  Their tongue is about one and one third their body length. That would mean that a full grown chameleon's tongue would be about two feet long. Their eyesight is phenomenal. They can spot a bug thirty some feet away and can look in two different directions at a time. People often think chameleons change to match their surroundings. This is true to a point. As Ziggy got older, he would change in hues of greens, browns, and yellows and some black. It also depended on his mood at the time.

Ziggy was a great pet and he got lost once while we were planting flowers. We didn't realize that he crawled up off our shoulder and onto a plant. We found him about 10 minutes later. He blended in quite well.

You are also free to submit pet shaming situations for your dog, cat, or animal. My dog did eat a two square foot hole in our drywall one time. A DNR form was filled out and approved by land management.
