[IT]Simbolo di Campocroce grazie alla sua alta ciminiera, la costruzione dell'edificio ebbe inizio nel 1876 per volontà del Cav. Pietro Motta, allora ufficiale del Regio Esercito, che abbandonò la vita militare per l'imprenditoria agro-industriale.
Fu uno dei più importanti stabilimenti del genere, nel quale venne peraltro selezionata una nuova razza di baco da seta detta chinese dorato. Per oltre settant’anni i suoi grandi finestroni, i pavimenti di cotto e l’imponente ciminiera videro alternarsi decine di filandiere, che ricavavano dai bozzoli prezioso materiale serico finché, nel 1956, a causa della grave crisi che in quegli anni colpì il settore della seta, l'attività bacologica cessò definitivamente. La proprietà fu ceduta e gli edifici del grande stabilimento furono in gran parte adibiti ad altri usi, senza essere abbandonati.
Nel 1989 venne attivato programma di recupero e ad oggi la struttura accoglie al suo interno gli studi, i laboratori e gli atelier di svariate attività ricreative e professionali. Inoltre spesso viene usata come incantevole scenario per feste e matrimoni.
