All caches are accessible from the seat of your kayak or canoe unless the river drops to very low levels. A TOTT is necessary to retrieve one of the hides in this series, The rest of them are fastened in place, but a TOTT to aid in reaching overhead branches may be helpful. There are a few rough areas of the river to navigate. It may be advisable to travel with others if you haven't experienced rapids before. There are reference points below indicating spots to be wary of, along with the coordinates for two public carry-in landings on the river. The downriver landing is just before the Forbes Dam. There is a string of buoys across the river well in advance of the dam as a warning. That landing is a little challenging, with a grassy bank next to knee deep or higher water.
Enjoy your trip on the river as it winds through the North Woods.
