Geocache Description:

This building is Shincho-sha Memorial Literature Museum that was established in April 2000. Yoshisuke (Giryo) Sato, the founder of Shincho-sha, is one of the most popular publishing company in Japan, had sent many books for the Kakunodate public library in 1922. Because, he was born in Kakunodate in 1878, and had a boyhood there. At the GZ, you will be find a stone object of opened book.

It is “YUKIGUNI” written by Yasunari Kawabata, the recipient of a Nobel prize. The book of “Yukiguni” is the first book of Shincho-Bunko after the World War II. At first, please count the number of the letters in line (vertical). There are six lines. So, the numbers are A, B, C, D, E, and F from the left to right. Please bring your pen. 新潮社記念文学館は角館出身の佐藤義亮(さとうぎりょう)と彼が礎を築いた文芸出版社新潮社の業績に因んで2000年4月に建てられたものです。新潮社の初代社長である佐藤は郷里角館町に図書館が設置されたのをきっかけに「郷里の人々に、たくさんの本を読んでもらいたい」と自らの蔵書と社の出版物を寄贈したのは大正11年のことでした。 示された座標にはノーベル賞作家の川端康成の雪国の冒頭の部分が刻まれた本を開いた形のオブジェ(石碑)があります。「雪国」は新潮文庫として戦後最初に出版されたものだそうです。まず刻まれた冒頭の部分6行の文字数を(縦に)数えてください。左からABCDEFです。キャッシュの座標は以下です。キャッシュはとても小さいので取り出すときに注意してください。筆記具を持参ください。 N39 35.X E140.33.Y X=7*A+12*B+7*C+4*D+8*E+7*F Y=17*A+16*B+4*C+12*D+13*E+14*F
