Hinokinai River is the branch of Tamagawa River. There are around four hundreds on SOMEIYOSHINO cherry trees on the river banks two kilometers along. SHIDAREZAKURA cherry trees in BUKEYASHIKI (Samurai Residential Area) and SOMEIYOSHINOs are listed on the selection of 100 beautiful places of cherry trees in Japan.
In April 1934, the trees were planted by the people in Kakunodate, as a memory of the completion of the river bank of the river, and celebration of Akihito’s birth. Please bring your pen.
桧木内川は玉川の支流です。川沿いの築堤上におよそ４００本のソメイヨシノが植えられ約２キロにわたって続いており、武家屋敷のシダレザクラとともに日本サクラ名所１００選に選定され角館のシンボルとして親しまれています。これは１９３４年4月に桧木内川の左岸堤防築堤の完成と、当時の皇太子明仁親王の生誕を祝し、町民によって植えられたものです。ソメイヨシノは、シダレザクラよりも二日ほど開花・散り始めとも遅く、わずかに花のピークが異なるそうです。筆記具を持参ください。
