Geocache Description:

Welcome to The Gurdies Nature Conservation Reserve. This bushland has several easy to moderate walks the take less than on hour (unless you take a wrong turn like I did the first time I went there).

Before you go, please visit the Parks Victoria website, download the map and plan your walk. There are several caches in the Park. Warning...there are no public toilets; the nearest being in Grantville. There is good off street parking.

Megascolides australis is also known as the Giant Gippsland Earthworm. They average about 1m in length and 2cm in diameter, but can stretch to 3m in some cases. They weigh about 200gms and have 300-400 body segments. They don't live in this area from what I can gather, but if you go to Korumburra and listen carefully, you can hear the gurgling or sucking sound as they move through their burrows.

At gz, you are looking for a shy giant worm...not as big as Megascolides australis, but bigger than what you find in the garden. There is a bison attached to its body, so BYO pen and possibly tweezers if the log has not been put in properly.
