Puzzle: flying squirrels are Helsinki 82 km; Türi 97 km; Pärnu 129 km; Otepää 231 km.

[ENG] Siberian flying squirrel is the only species of flying squirrel found in Europe. It is considered vulnerable within the European Union where it is found only in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. They favour old forests with a mix of conifers and deciduous trees. They are mostly nocturnal, being most active late in the evening, although females with young may also feed during the day. They do not hibernate, but in the winter they may sometimes sleep continuously for several days. As shy and nocturnal animals, they are seldom seen. The most common sign of their presence is their droppings, which resemble orange-yellow rice grains and are often found beneath or on top of their nest. Siberian flying squirrel is under protection. Bring your own pen. Entrance is not for free and you have to pay attention to opening times. [EST] Lendorav on oravast väiksem, halli värvi näriline. Eestis on säilinud väikesel arvul peamiselt Kirde- ja Edela-Eestis. Tal on suured silmad ning esi- ja tagajäsemete vahel paikneb nahakurd. Lendorav ei lenda sõna otseses mõttes, vaid liugleb: õhku hüpates tõmbab ta jäsemete vahel oleva nahakurru pingule ja seejärel liugleb kuni paarikümne meetri kaugusele. Lendu juhib ta saba abil. Enne maandumist puule ta pidurdab, painutades saba. Vaenlasi on tal palju: nugised, kakud jne. Lendorav elab pea kogu oma elu puu otsas, maapinnale tuleb ta vaid äärmise vajaduse korral. Elupaigana eelistab vanade puudega metsa. Lendorav sööb puude pungi, noori oksi, seemneid jne. Pojad sünnivad neil mais-juunis ja neid on tavaliselt 2…4. Lendorav on looduskaitse all. Pliiats aardesse ei mahu. Aarde juurde on tasuline sissepääs ja kellaajaline piirang.
