Geocache Description:

Ruddington is a substantial village to the south of Nottingham which is growing rapidly. This cache sits at the entrance to one of several sports grounds for the village, on the road towards the adjacent large and significant Rushcliffe Country Park, a major leisure facility for the borough.

This cache is located off the A60 Loughborough Road as it passes through Ruddington. It's on the gateway leading to Elms Park recreation ground, a large sports facility, the land for which was bought and endowed by Samuel Carter, a Canadian manufacturer and politician in the early 1920s and 30s. There is parking in the grounds of the complex and it is possible to leave a car on the main road but it is pretty busy with traffic, especially at peak times. The gates to the park are occasionally locked at night but if so you can squeeze between the gate frames and the stone pillars to access the site anyway. The hide used to be called 'It's a film canister Jim, but not as we know it...' but alas it is no more. The house next door to the driveway has fitted new security gates recently and the film canister and it attaching mechanism was destroyed in the process. The replacement cache is far more mundane and for that I apologise. It's still fun to find though. The hint remains the same and is now more relevant.
