Old Cyprus Grove Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lacinta: Unfortunately due to development of this area, the majestic Old Cyprus Pines that held this cache have been removed and therefore the cache is no longer in situ. Thanks to all who had found and logged this cache. I will endeavour in the near future to place a new cache along this route to ensure fellow cachers can continue to add smiley to their maps.
Kind regards Lacinta.

Happy Caching

 The Loop

We have put together two of our favourite pastimes for this series of caches.
Cycling and Caching.

This group of caches has been put together for the cyclist, but can also be done by car. PLEASE NOTE SOME SECTIONS ARE DRY WEATHER ROADS ONLY AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED BY CAR AFTER RAIN.

This ride/ loop does include road riding in some parts, SO PLEASE USE CARE WHEN UNDERTAKING GEOCACHING IN THESE AREAS AND BE DILIGENT FOR PASSING TRAFFIC.

We recommend parking you car in the car park opposite the local Primary School to do this series by bike. One section of this loop is ridden in both directions. See attached map with a suggested route clearly marked. (To accommodate this, that particular section has caches placed on both sides of the road.)

Our chosen 25 km loop has hills, some small and some that are more of a challenge. It crosses several flood ways and the road surface changes from bitumen, to gravel (with some decent corrugations), a sandy loam, and some rather stoney sections to navigate. (The Loop can be a challenging ride, and therefore is not recommended for younger and less confident cyclists)

We have placed a variety of caches along this route, they include nano's, micros, sistema containers, some evil hides and all different degrees of difficulty. Some are big enough to accommodate travel bugs and swaps, while others require you to bring your own writing stick.

As you ride along some of the tracks you will meander between farms, open plains and in some areas, small amounts of bush land. You can also see great sections of dry stonewalls dividing farms and roadways. Sadly a lot of the walls fallen into disrepair these days.

If you also enjoy photography this ride is spectacular in the spring when the farmers hills are alive with golden canola crops. There are also some ruins of an old homestead along the way. (Homestead is visible from road, but is on private property. So please respect their signage).

This ride also takes you past an established Travel Bug Hotel located in the area.

We hope you enjoy "The Loop" as much as we do.
It has been a lot of fun putting it together.
It is regular favourite ride of ours to do in the local area.
