There was an Old Salem Baptist Cemetery building that was organized on July 14, 1843. Their building consisted of a log construction. In January 1879 The members voted to build a new building on a track of land donated by Andrew Hodges. This land was northeast of California on what is now highway 87. A frame building 30' x 44' x 14' was constructed for a cost of $861.98. The Church was dedicated in 1879. On November 6, 1969 the building was destroyed by a fire of unknown origin. The building was 90 years old at the time of destruction. On November 12 the members voted to rebuild on the same site. Additional rooms were added om 1984 and a new sanctuary. baptistery, pastors study and Church library were added in 1988. The cemetery has 164 burials with the first being Alvin Allee and George Willimason in 1902.
This is located jsut off Highway 87 on Highway N. There is ample marking in the Church lot and along the Highway N. You are looking for a small camouflaged container with a log only. Permission has been granted to place the cache.
