We recently archived a cache in this area because the fallen birch tree had all but decayed. This time we hid one near a more permanent landmark, a piece of the ubiquitous blue stone rock that was quarried in the area.
The village of Bluestone flourished in the late 1800s and early 1900s when its populace quarried the blue-gray siltstone for use in building sidewalks and other construction. It was located near the south end of Euclid Creek Parkway and many stone structures still exist in the area.
