Geocache Description:

The cache is a small clip box. Please replace it securely so as to protect it from muggles and extreme weather changes. I don't live in Greece but really wanted to contribute to the caches in this area. With thanks to nikos651 for agreeing to maintain it.

This cache was placed in the summer, close to the village of Chania, in a location with spectacular views of the mountains and sea. The GZ elevation is at 1505m so possibly a good cache if you are interested in stats.  Please feel free to post pictures as they will be nice to see all the way here in the UK.  I found this spot whilst searching for what Mr OTB thought to be a stellar observatory, it actually turned out to be a military base which you can't visit. The cache is located just outside a former, now disused, US Military base which I think was called FS?  This location has stunning views, but can also have quite an eerie feel. From the cache you can also see some underground bunkers and air pipes

Following the construction of military radars at the cache site (Pourianos Stavros) in the late 60`s, the summit became a restricted military zone.

Pelion or Pelium is a mountain at the southeastern part of Thessaly in central Greece, forming a hook-like peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. Its highest summit, Pourianos Stavros, is 1,610 m amsl.
