Geocache Description:

LIFE'S A BEACH #15 - SEATOWN

************************************************

If you would like to add more caches to this series, please see the series guidelines and then contact heartradio through his profile so that he can keep track of numbers and avoid duplications. Caches can be any type apart from a Traditional or a Letterbox without a multi element, so cachers see and learn more about the place they're visiting

This is my latest addition to my Life's a Beach series, and this is the first in the series to be placed in Dorset. Seatown is a beach I like visiting, and I decided it would be perfect for another cache in my series.

To find the cache, you will need to visit the waypoints and collect some information in order to find the final coordinates.

Stage 1 (Headline Coordinates) - Bench

  • There are A lines of text on the bench

Stage 2 - Information Board

  • You will see an old photo and new photo next to each other on the information board. They were taken BC years apart.
  • Find the four small cartoon images about beach safety. How many cats appear in them? Answer = D
  • Opposite the board is a plaque by the anchor, dedicated to a pug. How many letters in the pug's name? Answer = E

Stage 3 - Bridge

  • How many upright posts are there on the INLAND (furthest from the sea) side of this footbridge? Answer = FG

Stage 4 - Map

  • On the map inset in the top right hand corner, how many viewpoint symbols are there? Answer = H

The final cache is at N50 43.[B-E][F+G][H-C] W002 49.[B-A-C][D*H][B-A]

Seatown is a coastal hamlet in Dorset, England, sited on the English Channel approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) westsouthwest of Bridport. It lies within the civil parish of Chideock in the West Dorset administrative district.

The coast at Seatown is part of the Jurassic Coast, a world heritage site stretching for 96 miles (154 km). The surrounding area is also designated part of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast of England, lies 1 mile (1.6 km) to the west.

Seatown comprises a small number of houses, a holiday park, some holiday cottages and a pub. The small River Winniford or Wynreford runs into the sea here. Seatown beach is popular with fossil collectors, with rock of Late Jurassic/Early Cretaceous. The actual beach is privately owned; it is free to access but parking is charged.
