Geocache Description:

This is a simple puzzle cache located at Poolsbrook Country Park and based on the Olympics. The cache is NOT hidden at the posted coordinates but the answers can be easily acquired from general knowledge or a bit of internet searching to solve the puzzle and find the hidden coordinates. Thanks to the local council for allowing caches to be placed here.

In honour of the 2016 Rio Olympics and the success of Team GB I have placed this geocache at Poolsbrook Country Park to commemorate the event. As the park already hosts various sports such as cycling, running and equestrian activity then you never know, we may one day see a mini Olympics at Poolsbrook! Can you imagine Mo Farah running round the main pond 3 times for the 5K, or Usain Bolt sprinting down the road between the pit wheels for the 100 metres, not to mention the swimming in the water, cycling round the small pond, hockey on the meadow and throwing events dodging the electricity pylons.

This puzzle has 6 questions to solve to find the missing parts of the coordinates, with all answers based on either the recent Rio Olympics or general Olympics history.
The gold and silver medals have been won with a joint FTF by pynot & londongirl34 with a winning time of 1 hr 26 mins. The bronze medal is awarded to cats-eyes with a logging time of 20 hr 42 mins.

The cache is a small camouflaged container with a 'childproof' cap located at:

N 53° 15.ABC W 1° 20.DEF

The Puzzle:

A: Subtract the number of silver medals that Team GB won at the 2016 Olympics from the number of gold medals they won. (NB some web pages have the wrong info, including Google, so use Wikipedia medal table if in doubt).
[gold - silver = A]

B: The 5 Olympic rings are arranged with 3 on the top and 2 on the bottom, and are coloured Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black (but not in that order). Add up the number of letters in the top 3 colours, then add up the number of letters in the bottom 2 colours and subtract the 'bottom' number from the 'top' number.
[ (top colour + top colour + top colour) - (bottom colour + bottom colour) = B ]

C: The first modern Olympics with only 24 countries attending were held in 189C.
[What is this last digit for C?]

D: Subtract the number of bronze medals that Team GB won at the 2016 Olympics from the number of silver medals they won.
[silver - bronze = D]

E: The generally recognised motto of the Olympics is Citius, Altius, Fortius. Take the latin word from that motto which refers to being “Higher” and add the letters up in it, then subtract from this the position number that Team GB came in the final medals table (based on the highest number of gold medals by each country).
[no. of letters - medal table position = E]

F: The total number of events/medals across the 28 sports in the 2016 Olympics was:
1: 272 (Answer F = 1)
2: 284 (Answer F = 2)
3: 295 (Answer F = 3)
4: 306 (Answer F = 4)

Once you have answered the 6 questions and solved the puzzle you can sprint, hurdle, cycle or dribble a hockey ball over to the final coordinates to retrieve the cache. It is slightly away from the majority of people at Poolsbrook Country Park but as always there can be people appearing from all directions in this busy park so take care when retrieving and hiding that no one is watching, and please keep the cache hidden from sight back in the original location. It is not immediately next to the water so safe for children to search, and the paths are generally OK for wheelchairs and buggies but help may be needed for the final retrieval of the cache. Free parking is available within the country park at 2 locations, one of which only a few minutes walk from the cache. These car parks do get locked at dusk though so check the signs on entry to the car park for times.

There is a log sheet and pencil in the cache.
