Zamek w Międzyrzeczu to twierdza obronna powstała przez Kazimierza Wielkiego w miejscu grodu warownego z drugiej połowy IX wieku, w widłach dwóch rzek - Obry i Paklicy. Mury mają kształt podkowy o łącznej długości 145 metrów i 2,6 metrów szerokości (u podstawy więcej). Zachowany jest do wysokości około 9 metrów. W warowni stacjonowały polskie wojska, strzegące pobliskiej granicy kraju. Przez lata zamek był niszczony w wyniku oblężeń m.in. przez najemników wspomagających krzyżaków w wojnie z Polską w XVI w., przez wojska szwedzkie w XVII w., a następnie przez Rosjan w 1945 r.
Z lewej strony dziedzińca mieszczą się budynki dawnego starostwa i oficyny dworskiej, powstałe w 1719 roku. Obecnie mieści się tam muzeum, w którym prezentowana jest makieta zamku oraz jedna z najbogatszych w Polsce kolekcja portretów trumiennych i tablic herbowych.
Teren zamku dostępny jest od godz. 9.00.-20.00. Zwiedzanie zamku do 16.00

The castle in Międzyrzecz is a defensive fortress founded by King Casimir the Great in the place of a fortified castle from the second half of the ninth century, at the confluence of two rivers - the Obra and Paklica. The walls have the shape of a horseshoe with a total length of 145 meters and 2.6 meters wide (at the base ). Over the years, the castle was destroyed by some sieges e.g. by mercenaries supporting the Teutonic Knights in the war against Poland in the sixteenth centur, or by the Swedish army in the seventeenth century, and Russians in 1945.
On the left side of the courtyard there are the buildings of the former county court and outbuildings, formed in 1719. Today they house a museum, which presentes a model of the castle and one of the richest in Poland collection of coffin portraits and arrays of arms.
The castle area is open from pm. 9.00.-20.00. Visiting the castle until 16.00
