The approximately two-mile Cottonwood Heights Historic Walk starts near the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon & continues west to 3000S. The trail is popular with walkers, joggers, & bicyclists. Two geocaches are placed along the east-end of the trail to encourage people to read about the unique history of Cottonwood Heights. Cottonwood Heights city once included several long-forgotten communities: Cottonwood, Big Cottonwood, Butler, Union, Granite, Poverty Flats, Danish Town, Emmaville & Gold City. The city has placed markers along the historic walking trail to inform people about some of the historic sites around the city & to explain a few significant events occurring in Cottonwood Heights’ history.
