This cache was placed in memory of Gord Downie, lead singer of the Tragically Hip. Simple cache; not meant to be difficult.
I have enjoyed the music of the Tragically Hip since I first heard it more than 25 years ago. I was greatly saddened to learn that Gord had inoperable brain cancer and we were losing him. I never consider myself a hugh Hip fan, I just liked their music and the poetry of the lyrics that I came to learn was mostly Gord. It became apparent to me with time that the band was a favourite among a lot of people, particularly Canadians and like the JFK assassination, the first moon landing and the 911 attacks, I think most Canadians remember where they were and what they were doing on the night the Hip played their last concert in Kingston, Ontario, August 20, 2016. Gord's gone now. But the music of the Hip and Gord’s poetry lives on; maybe just a little more so because of this cache. RIP Gord. We lost a good one and the world is a lesser place without him.
