So why not come along for the whole weekend to really get to know your caching mates, but if you can't spare the time, just attend sometime on Sat 29 Oct. between 11am and 3pm.
How this event came about.
Over dinner a few weeks ago at pprass's place, an out of the blue thought was floated by Browngang which went like this - “why don't we have another camping event?”. The party abruptly stops talking, turns to Chris who looked like the cat that had just eaten the canary and in unison raised their glasses and say - “sure – let's have it in spring and see who is interested by putting it on Facebook. Oh and btw – the first person that responds with a “yes” will be responsible for putting on the event. Yeah! That's a great idea” – as another glug of wine went down their throats.
In the meantime I'm at home on a Saturday evening not doing much, just checking Facebook, when this message suddenly pops up at 9.30 pm about a camping event – well hell yeah! Remember the excellent Diamond Head event that we had in February? I'm in with a big “YESSSS” that goes back to Chris within 15 seconds of him posting. Chris at the dinner party then announces - “ladies and gentlemen we have an event and a team to organise it - Team Nurse Hayley”! They all cheer, take another glug of excellent wine and work out the date that I am supposed to organise the event on. I think I was ambushed and I didn't even get to taste the excellent wine!!
So that is how all of this came about. I am now charged with organising my first event which I am not really sure what is involved – but here goes!
The Event
The event will officially begin at 11.00am on Saturday 29 Oct. however – a group of us will most likely be there on the Friday night, so if anyone else wants to have a pre-event get together you are most welcome to join in. Our group will also camp there the Sunday night and leave on the Monday morning.
The posted co-ords mark a central spot of the camp ground and are not necessarily where we will be camped – that will depend on the day when we arrive and what space is available. So when you arrive, just look for a red Land Rover Discovery and a black and grey Kokoda caravan– that's where we will be!
Entertainment/Activities
At this stage nothing has been firmly planned or decided on, but we are thinking of the following activities:
-
A night cache in the bush around the camp ground – Sat night.
-
An Irish Cream tasting – everyone brings along their favourite Irish Cream
-
Game of rounders on the lawn
-
GPSr accuracy game.
-
Camp oven desert cooking comp.
