In August, Groundspeak sought entries into the 2016 Geocaching International Film Festival. The 16 final contestants have been selected and their short films have been assembled into an approximately hour long reel that will be released to select Geocaching events on the days November 3-7, 2016.
Taft will be hosting such an event on Saturday November 5, 2016 with the doors opening at 3 PM at the Taft Fox Theater. The cost is $5 per person unless you spend $7.50 at the snack bar. Youth under 16 are free with a paying adult.. The concession stand will be open for you to buy refreshments and snacks while you mingle with fellow cachers, trade trackables, and just enjoy some fellowship. We will pass out ballots of the films so when the films start, you can cast your vote for the film you like the most.
The films will begin at 4 PM and should last approximately one hour for all 16 films. Once the viewing is over, we will tally the votes for what you think was the best film, and continue to discuss the films, local caches, and just hang out until the event is over at approximately 5:45 PM. In true Taft event fashion, we will then select a local restaurant to go enjoy a meal at after the event is over.
Working on a "so many icons in a day challenge"? Well we are going to have a real, genuine Taft GIFF Weekend Highway Clean Up CITO from 8 AM until 11 AM. Afterwards, the Taft area is full of quality Geocaches, so make a day of it. Come over early to CITO and find the caches around town and then join us in the afternoon for the movies and later on for dinner. We promise you will enjoy your time spent in our town.
