I have been regularly visiting this area for about 4 years now. Such beautiful wilderness on the doorstep of Melbourne.
My first hide, done with my son and I plan for many more to come! The idea is to hide geocaches for almost every age to provide fun for the whole geofamily. The geofamily can go for a wander or, if you are feeling fit, a run or a cycle in the great outdoors. Note that the tracks are rough and not suitable for younger kids to ride, but should be OK for walking.
The parking location has a limited number of spaces adjacent to private property. The walk from this parking spot is about 1km along well established fire vehicle trails with moderate hills More parking is available further away at Lysterfield lake or Wellington Road near Lysterfield Road.
This geocache is about 15 metres off the track.
Remember to check fire danger during summer - as this is a bushy area it is not recommended on days of high fire risk.
Please keep in mind that tree coverage may interfere with GPSr reception in the area. I have included some quite good hints if required, so that should help in the search. This area may become quite wet, muddy and slippery during winter.
I have averaged these co-ordinates over 10-15 minutes. If you feel the co-ordinates are out and you were able to find the cache, please feel free to post your own readings and the GPSr you used in your online log. You are looking for an 1L Sistema Clip Lock container (room for swaps). Pencils were included in the cache initially, but it's always a good idea to BYO pen.
