Welcome to the Immanuel Baptist Church of Wausau!
Immanuel Baptist Church or Wausau (IBC) has a long history in the Wausau area. The building nearby is the most recent home for the Immanuel Baptist Church Congregation, but it is by no means the first.
Early in the 20th century, the IBC of Wausau held services in a building at the intersection of 4th and Grant. By the 1950s, they were outgrowing their facilities, and in 1954, the congregation voted to purchase the nearby A. P. Woodson House to use for Classrooms, Bible Study and Sunday School.
In 1962-1963, IBC added a sanctuary to the Woodson House, where services were held until they moved to the building that stands before you. IBC sold the Woodson House to the Marathon County Historical Society in 1997. The Woodson House still stands today at 401 McIndoe Street. That tudor revival style brick building was built in 1914, and designed by architect George W. Maher.
The church as it exists today was built in 1995, and was designed by the C. H. Ghidorzi Company. Regular services are held here for over 400 members.
