Sabaneev bridge street (in the Soviet period — lane/Mendeleev street, before the revolution — Official)

Sabaneyev Ivan (1770-1829) — participant of the Napoleonic wars General from infantery. Participated in the 2nd Turkish war, the actions against the Polish confederates and the storming of Prague, in the Italian and Swiss campaigns of Suvorov. The Sabaneev bridge is located in the center of Odessa and stretches from Catherine square to the street Gogol. The house of scientists in Odessa was established in 1923 — one of the first in the USSR and first in Ukraine. Originally located in the street Schepkin (Elisabeth) in the house 12. Entrance to the Odessa House of scientists was free, which made it a citywide cultural center.
Since 1934 is the Palace of count Tolstoy. The house of scientists continued to exist and to work and during the occupation of Odessa by the Romanian army from 1941 to 1944, being used by the new government for propaganda purposes.
