< Stone Pavement of Ochiai >
During the Edo period, the hard-to-walk slope of Tsudura-ore Path needed to be maintained against heavy rain, and natural stones were placed as pavement.
It was, however, inconvenient for cart use, and most of stoned were remover in the Meiji period.
In 1988, the project of restoring the old stone pavement started, and the old road (approximately 800 meters) was dug out and stones had been replaced there by 1995.
This cache is at the bottom end of the stone pavement road. You can reach Shin. jp's cache "GC2AN15 Ochiai Stone Pavement Promenade", which is located at the top of the pavement, within 20 to 30 minutes (approximately 1 km or 3,000 feet). I dare not to place any caches on this pavement because it is so slippery and not suitable for hunting. Enjoy historic atmosphere of the old Nakasendo Road.

落合宿から馬籠宿までの中山道を歩きましょう。
＜落合の石畳＞
江戸時代に、美濃国の落合宿から信濃国木曽の馬籠宿に至る途中の、十曲峠（つづらおれとうげ）の急な坂道を大雨から守るために、自然石を敷き詰めて造られたのが、この石畳です。
明治になり荷車の往来に不都合なため一部が取り払われましたが、昭和63年から平成7年の間に、旧状を留める３か所を含む約800mの区間において埋まっていたものを掘りおこし、石を敷き詰め復元されました。
このキャッシュは、石畳の街道の下端にあります。ここから石畳の上端にある Shin. jp さんのキャッシュ「GC2AN15 Ochiai Stone Pavement Promenade」までは１ｋｍ程度で、20～30分ほどでたどり着くことが出来ます。石畳でのキャッシュハントは滑りやすくて危険なので、キャッシュを設置していません。旧街道の趣をゆっくりとお楽しみください。

注意: 石畳は非常に滑りやすいです。特に濡れている石やこけの生えている石は確実に滑るといっても過言ではありません。歩くときはＧＰＳデバイス等はバッグにしまって、手ぶらの状態で十分注意して歩くようにしてください。ご安全に！
